Beneficiaries, trustees & going Pro (Guide 4 of 4)
Connect the people who'll need your information, add the professionals who'll execute your wishes, and unlock everything with Pro.
A vault no one can reach helps no one. The final step is connecting people — the family who'll receive your information, and optionally the professionals who'll act on it.
Inviting beneficiaries
In the Beneficiaries section, add the people who matter with their name and email. They'll receive an invitation to create their own ShareMyVault account.
Two things worth knowing about how this works:
- They never get your keys. A beneficiary has their own account with their own passphrase. What you share, and when, stays under your control — and you can remove someone at any time.
- The invitation email contains no vault content. Just who invited whom, and a signup link. Use the email address they actually check; that address is what links their account to your invitation.
If someone hasn't joined yet, you'll see that next to their name, with a button to resend the invite.
Trustees
The Trustees section is for professionals — the lawyer or firm who'll execute your wishes. Adding them works the same way as beneficiaries. If you don't have one yet, our marketplace lists independent estate-planning professionals by country. (They're independent third parties, not our agents — do your own due diligence, as with any professional.)
Going Pro
The free plan covers the essentials. Pro unlocks the rest — assets, encrypted documents, unlimited beneficiaries, trustees, and live sharing. Current prices are always on the pricing page; they come straight from our billing system, so what you see is what Stripe charges.
To upgrade, open Plan & billing in your vault and click upgrade. Payment runs entirely on Stripe's hosted checkout — we never see or store your card.
Have an invite or referral code? There's a field for it right on the billing page. Enter the code and you'll see exactly what it gives you before anything is charged — a discount applied at checkout, or in some cases Pro time added directly to your account, no card needed.
One thing that never changes with your plan: the encryption. Free or Pro, your data gets the same zero-knowledge protection. Paying unlocks features, never security.
You're done
Account, passphrase, 24 words on paper, the three items that matter most, and the people who'd need them. That's a real safety net — most families never get this far. Add to it as life changes, and it'll be ready if it's ever needed.
